Video 1 Feb

1. Bananas have been cultivated by humans to have that size, colour and shape (and in particular to get rid of the horrible seeds).

2. Even if bananas were naturally suited to humans, it could be more reasonably explained by a parallel evolution of bananas and things that eat bananas, in the same way that parallel evolution explains why polar bears are white, even though they’re at the top of the food chain in their habitat.

3. In his patronising “apology” (since disingenuously removed), Ray Comfort claims that the video was edited to look stupid because it omitted an earlier segment about a Coke can, and hence “missed the point” of his comparison.

The problem with the video is not that it misses the point of the analogy, but that the whole thing is irredeemably stupid, badly-researched and easily dismissed. Like everything else about his religion. So if anyone’s “missed the point”, it’s him.

4. In irrelevant and pedantic news, this isn’t an athiest’s anything, because athiest isn’t a word, except perhaps as the superlative form of the non-existent adjective athy (the comparative form being athier).

‘A’ (meaning ‘not’ in Greek) as in apathetic, ‘the’ (meaning ‘god’ in Greek) as in theocracy, ‘ist’ (meaning ‘one who’ in Greek) as in realist: atheist.
